The Pride-Chaneyville Branch Library was first located in the school gymnasium on the campus of Pride High School in 1941. In 1983, the branch was moved to a 782 square-foot T-building housed on the grounds of the old Northeast Elementary School.
This library includes a covered drive-through at the entrance and a beautifully landscaped courtyard, and houses over 55,500 books, 70 magazine titles, 10 newspapers, and 3,500 videos, DVDs, audiobooks, and CDs. A special feature of the library is its location adjacent to the new Northeast High School and directly opposite the Northeast Elementary School. The children's room includes window seats which capture the expansive view of the library's woodland surroundings.
The facility includes a large meeting room, capable of holding 75 people, with a kitchenette. It also has separate areas for adults, teens and children, with a special storytime room, display and exhibit space. PCs are available for public use, including computers dedicated for meeting room/computer class use. Generous seating, study, and work areas can be found throughout the facility for public and staff.
Free wireless Internet access is available at this branch.
The Pride-Chaneyville Branch Library is located on the Pride-Port Hudson Road, adjacent Northeast High School and opposite Northeast Elementary School.
