• The annual East Baton Rouge Parish Library Summer Reading Programs kicks off in May! This summer is sure to be packed with great books, exciting programs, and fabulous prizes. With a program for every age group, the entire family can participate! The fun starts on Wednesday, May 23. All locations of the Library will have reading logs for each age group (Children, Teens, and Adults). These logs will be available until Tuesday, July 31. While each group has a different theme and guidelines - the goal is the same - to READ!

• The East Baton Rouge Parish Library is proud to announce it is one of thirty libraries across the country to be awarded the Building Common Ground: Discussions of Community, Civility, and Compassion grant from the American Library Association and the Fetzer Institute. The Library will host a series of events focusing on the three major themes of community, civility, and compassion. We invite you to explore this InfoGuide for more information on this year-long initiative. You will learn all about the various events the Library is presenting as well as recommended reading and other resources. Don't forget to visit our Community Partners tab to learn more about the great work being done in Baton Rouge by local non-profit organizations and businesses.

• What Do You Geek? It’s time to add a new verb to your vocabulary—“geek!” We are excited to launch Geek the Library, a community based public awareness campaign, which highlights what people are passionate about and how libraries can support those passions. Geek the Library introduces “geek” as a verb, and encourages the public to talk about what they “geek” — whether it’s engineering, superheroes, the environment, art, or even football. The public awareness campaign illustrates the fact that everyone is passionate about something—everyone “geeks” something—and that the library supports them all.
